Antique Czecho-Slovakia Salt Box w Hinged Wooden Lid, White *Victoria* Porcelain w Blue/Yellow Art Nouveau Floral Borders, Storage shops Container
This bright white antique ceramic salt box is marked made in.
This bright white antique ceramic salt box is marked made in "Czecho-Slovakia." That spelling of the name of a country with so many iterations dates it to about 1920. It has a brown hinged wooden lid and a hole so that it can be hung on the wall. The name of the manufacturer is "Victoria." It is so white and bright that I believe it is porcelain. It is decorated with two bands of blue, yellow and red flowers in the Art Nouveau style. Often floral borders on salt boxes are of pastel roses, etc. This decoration is quite unique. It would make a great storage container in any home.
It measures 7 inches tall, 6-1/4 inches wide and 4 inches deep. At about 100 years old, it is in excellent condition. No chips, cracks or crazing. Glossy and clean, is shops really looks great. The wood lid is intact, though it has been glued to hold a screw in place (which is probably a replacement).
