This very old muff is Stuffed for tons o' warmth
I've had this forever and it was really old when added to my closet. It's been adorning a chair (see photos) and is sometimes grabbed up to add warmth and style with an old classic coat or cape...the bits of frayed edges or interior don't detract from its use to wear or adorn a chair or sofa or other display...it's elegant and a conversation piece whether on the hands or on display
Antique Victorian Black Curly Persian Lambs Wool Muff
Fabulous high-end quality with some fraying here and there...see photos
Hand Warming Muff
This Muff seems rectangular but is really a RHOMBUS in that it's not the same width at top and bottom...high end quality made piece that's typical of the early 1900s...and it has a Braided wrist cord that keeps it attached to you as a Carrying Handle
The Back of this Muff is a Very Soft Black velvety fabric
Inside are a couple of fabrics and interior shows some use wear
Interestingly, the Lining is Different Black and brown Fabrics...may be one of what's known in wooden antiques "an end of the day piece" in that leftover materials were used at the end of the day to make the most with what folks had, a value handed down to next generations by those who'd learned to make do during "rations" in World War years and during the Depression Era. Things were hard to come by, so perhaps, don't know but perhaps, this MUFF had its exterior shops made and the piece was set aside until interior fabrics were collected to finish it up. Ah, remembering the era of childhood when my mother would do just that...she'd make the outer garment and hold the dress or coat or jacket to use accumulated scraps for its lining. If you do needlework or beads work, you know the merits to doing that salvaging of what's left over to make up a totally unique piece with leftovers. And that brings us to leftovers for a meal like no other we all enjoy now and then as the week's leftovers come to the table...
